In accordance with Article 2544 of the United Methodist Church Book of Discipline, a Study Committee was formed in November, 2015 to perform a feasibility study to analyze the building needs of FUMC Montgomery.
In December, 2015 the church staff and program chairs presented their visions and needs for their ministries to the study committee. The committee felt that its study should ensure that the existing church plant provides adequate space for the current and future needs of our important ministries.
In October 2017, the Board of Trustees approved a motion to organize and execute a Capital Campaign to fund the recommendations of the Study Committee in order for the church to carry out its mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
To ensure that our church campus is being used to its fullest potential, the Board of Trustees enlisted Ken Upchurch and John Hunter Foshee to lead an extensive “square foot by square foot” review of the campus with church staff. The results from the original study committee, the extensive architectural review of every usable inch of our church property, and the goals of PLAN 2020 resulted in the Board of Trustees and Administrative Board unanimously approving the 4-year IMPACT Campaign.
